Why would Israel agree to a ceasefire with an entity whose stated goal is Israel’s destruction, and who illustrates their sincerity at every opportunity?

What does Israel have to gain by doing that? Their attitude is that the world is going to hate them no matter what they do, and the world is showing them it’s true.
