Honestly, I didn’t think the lore introduced in this episode was in any way inconsistent with what we’ve seen before, to the point where much of the witches’ dialogue was almost word for word things that came out of Yoda’s and Obi Wan’s mouths.

But, there’s a sinister undertone with the coven that’s not particularly subtle. Clearly the Jedi weren’t just taking issue with a same sex couple having children or just wanting to exist.

And that said, it’s not bigoted to say that the show is just not all that well written. You had head scratching moments like “The Thread (Force) isn’t a tool or weapon,” followed immediately by “Hey watch me use it as a tool and weapon.”

The rest of the episodes are also confused messes with odd contrivances and contradictions like the one I pointed out, or “Sure you just killed a Jedi with a blade, but it’s not possible to kill Jedi with steel or laser.”

Or said Jedi killing blade resembling a letter opener when in two of the previous series we’ve had characters impaled through the gut with a lightsaber who then basically walked it off. Kenobi by itself had two of those.

The acting is mostly top tier, especially Osha/Mae and Sun. The music is also quite good.

The writing really needs more attention, and it’s not just this show. With the exception of early Mando seasons and Andor, the D+ shows have been largely half baked in the plot and dialogue department.

I can only hope with the management shakeup and commitment to put out fewer shows in favor of quality that this problem gets solved.
